GREAT 10-mile run on the mill. I know, I know… I don’t like to do runs that long on the mill but it was unfortunately necessary today. Varying speeds.

Ran with my new over-the-counter orthotics. Seemed to help, but only time will really tell. I could definitely feel the added arch support, firmness and padding. Could tell the arch support was helping my feet not to roll in (over-pronation).

Continuing to ice my plantar tendons once or twice a day and take Advil as needed.

Also, I’ve purchase The Whartons’ Stretch Book. I think I’m really missing the boat in this area and this book should be a great help. I’ve read that there are some specific stretches in the book for the plantar tendons. And, I want to be sure I am stretching properly, so as not to cause any additional injury. Since I’ve never been shown “how” to stretch, I thought the book would be a good idea.

I’m beginning to collect quite a library of such sports related books and need to make them available to others, somehow.

More about the orthotics I purchased yesterday can be found on their website at http://www.powersteps.com/

Ahead for the week: 5 miles on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 9 on Thursday, an off day on Friday, and the Silver Comet Trail 10K on Saturday — my best chance at qualifying for the Peachtree Road Race. I would LOVE to run a sub 50 but I’ve never done that before so it’s unlikely. Sub 55 will be enough to get me into time group 1 with a chip.
