The Peachtree Classic 15K [that’s 9.3 miles], what an exciting race! My favorite of the whole year. My time this year wasn’t as good as last [1:37:53], that’s a pace of 10:31 — pretty slow, but I sure enjoyed running. Last year’s pace was 8:15. I shouldn’t complain too much about the time though, I was aiming for a 10 minute pace and I was almost there. I’ve just got to learn how to pace myself better. 1 mile will be an 8 minute mile and the next a 13 — bad stuff. And I’ve gained some lbs. since last year — working on that, and I’ve been plagued with injuries since the summer…. Blah, Blah, Blah… excuses, excuses, excuses, Anywho…

After the race I hurried over to watch our girl’s volleyball team in the State Championship game. Yesterday they beat Killian Hill 3 games to 0 — Killian is always a pretty good team AND THEN!!! They beat Peoples 3 games to 1 WOOHOO!!! That was GRAND! Then I found out that they had to play Peoples AGAIN this morning [which they knew all along and sadly I missed because of the race] because it was a double elimination tournament and no one else had beat them. And so they did! So sorry I missed that! The State Championship game was against Shiloh Hills – a very good team. Unfortunately, this was not our year. We got beat 3 games to 1. But the girls played well and it was all worth it to see them beat Peoples. I told my bff I’d trade that for a State Championship any day [not really, but it felt good to say so since we didn’t win].

My running partner and her CPA are down this weekend with the grandkittys and we will have a BIG family dinner tomorrow afternoon, minus BIG Tom who will be sadly missed 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 see, we’re all sad BIG Tom. That’s OK, Thanksgiving will be here before we know it.

[And actually, I think we are going to have start calling BIG Tom BIGGER Tom because last time he was home we measured him and he’s GROWN — he’s almost 6’3″ now!]

But back to Thanksgiving… which brings me to say, I’ve been slacking a bit and have got to do better to be in shape for the 1/2 marathon on Thanksgiving Day. That’s only about 4 weeks away… I’ve got to pull myself out of bed in the mornings and get on that boring old treadmill and run at least 1 15-miler around the Rock before then.

You did not mention how your running partner did in the race?!
