3G iPhone w/GPS July 11, 2008

Steve Jobs’ keynote address at the opening of Apple’s WWDC [World Wide Developers Conference] at Mascone West in San Fransisco this morning confirmed the GPS rumor for the new 3G iPhone which will go on sale next month, July 11.

Also, for current iPhone and iPod Touch users there will be a significant firmware update next month– Free to iPhone users and $9.95 for iPod Touch users.
An announcer came on to request that people turn off all “Cell phones, PDAs, and iPhones.” prior to the address.  Classic Apple humor!

The official announcement of iPhone 3G was made to mad cheering! It will be more affordable, have better battery life, include third party apps, be thinner with a black plastic backing, dramatically improved sound, flush headphone jacks, etc., etc., etc.

Price rumors hold true: iPhone 3G 8GB is $199. 16 GB is $299. They’re also making a white 16 GB model! That’s what I’d like to have. And rumor says there may be a 32 GB by Christmas, but that is just rumor.

I am looking forward tonight to downloading and watching the podcast of the keynote address. Saving my $$$ for July 11 and a new WHITE 32GB 3G iPhone 🙂
