Two charged in Starbucks robberies

Two alleged bandits — one of whom was fired from his job at Starbucks – exacted revenge in a pair of gunpoint robberies of the popular coffee shops, according to police.

27-year-old Angel Sauri and 29-year-old Ronald Maldonado were both charged with robbery.

Sauri was arrested Wednesday and Maldonado was arrested Thursday. They were arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court.

The two were charged with hitting two Starbucks coffee shops, tying up employees at gunpoint and demanding cash.

They allegedly first struck at 5 a.m. on Aug. 29, when they entered the branch at 2600 Broadway.

Waving a handgun, police say, they tied up two people, demanded $2,800 and fled.

On Sept. 14, the two allegedly robbed the Starbucks at 639 Third Avenue, at about 7:50 p.m.

In that robbery, they are once again accused of tying up two people and taking money and cell phones at gunpoint.

Maldonado was a former Starbucks employee who was fired.

He admitted to his involvement in both robberies, according to a criminal complaint.
