Starbucks hides woman from kidnappers

A local coffee shop served up a safe haven for a 24-year-old kidnapping victim.A woman burst into the Cambridge Starbucks claiming she had been kidnapped and asking baristas to call the police while she hid behind the counter. The woman said she had been held captive at the Red Roof Inn on Route 1 for five days.

She escaped her captives’ car by telling them she needed to go into the Starbucks to go to the bathroom.

Guy Waters and his girlfriend Niki Semnack waited outside.

When the woman didn’t come out, Waters went into the coffee shop. Employees told him they hadn’t seen anyone.

They called police who arrested Waters and Semnack in the parking lot.

Waters and Semnack were arraigned on Monday in Cambridge District Court. They were both charged with one count of kidnapping and are being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Friday.

The investigation is ongoing.
