A gunman robbed employees of $2,000 at a Starbucks restaurant in Hawthorne [Los Angeles, CA] early Wednesday, police said.

The robbery occurred about 2 a.m. at the coffee shop at 5030 Rosecrans Ave., Hawthorne police Lt. Mike Ishii said.

Employees had just closed the store and were walking out when a man appeared from behind the bushes on the side of the store. He pointed a gun at the workers and ordered them back inside.

The gunman forced employees to open the safe. He took the money and was last seen running out of the store.

Nobody was hurt.

The robber was black, in his late 20s, about 6 feet 2 inches tall and about 200 pounds. He wore a dark jacket and jeans.
