The MRI for my mom on last Tuesday is over and she is very glad! She said the IV part was OK, in the place where they usually take blood and didn’t hurt too much. However, on the hard MRI table she had to lay on her stomach with her arms above her head for 1 hour and 15 minutes. It was very difficult and very uncomfortable. Her arms went to sleep. She almost passed out when she got up after the test was over. The nurses told her that many people just can’t lay still that long and have to come back and re-do the test. Fortunately she was able to persevere– partly probably because for the prayers of many people and partly probably [she said] because out of the corner of her eye she could see my daddy through the window sitting outside the room. AIN’T LOVE GRAND! She goes back to the surgeon on Monday to get the results of the MRI and to see where we go from here.
I thought Tuesday was going to be my “Friday” but it was just Tuesday and tomorrow will be my “Friday”. I had originally requested today and tomorrow off to go to the First 100 in Monroe but there were just too many logistical details to work out so we skipped this one. But I picked up a shift for tomorrow, so tomorrow will be my Friday and then it will be time for Ellijay weekend #2 WHOO HOO! I can hardly wait!
UPDATE: My mom got good news! The surgeon called tonight to tell her that the MRI shows that there is no more cancer anywhere else in her body! PRAISE THE LORD! They will meet with him on Monday to discuss the options– several of which he gave her on the phone tonight. So there are decisions to be made. Please pray that the Lord will guide them as they try to find the best solution. The decisions include how radical/evasive the surgery will be and the length of treatment [radiation/chemo] afterward.
Thank you for your continued prayers!
